
Fan Yang
Research Assistant Professor
Fan Yang is a Research Assistant Professor with the University of Tennessee–Oak Ridge Innovation Institute’s Advanced Manufacturing for Affordable Building Construction Convergent Research Initiative.
His research focuses on applying advanced computational methods to improve construction standardization and automation. He focuses particularly on leveraging artificial intelligence for automated building code compliance checking and enhanced integration of construction information. His interests also include AI-driven prediction of material and structural performance to support lifecycle-oriented decision-making.
Yang has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and technical patents in the fields of construction automation, intelligent construction technologies, and construction materials. He also serves as a reviewer for journals and conferences, including Automation in Construction, the Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering, the ASCE International Conference on Computing in Civil Engineering (i3ce), the Construction Research Congress, and the CIB World Building Congress.
