Advincula Named 2025 Materials Research Society Fellow

UT-ORNL Governor’s Chair Rigoberto Advincula has been named a 2025 Materials Research Society (MRS) Fellow — a prestigious honor awarded to just 0.2% of MRS members annually.

Advincula was selected for his pioneering contributions to advanced polymers and nanostructured materials research, as well as his leadership in scholarly communication and education in materials science. He joins 14 other researchers in this year’s distinguished class of fellows.

“I appreciate MRS for this remarkable honor given the large community of active MRS members at the university and ORNL,” Advincula said. “Both institutions’ scientists, professors, and students are at the forefront of science, engineering, and manufacturing of materials.”

Advincula is the UT-ORNL Governor’s Chair Professor of Advanced and Nanostructured Materials in UT’s Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering. He also serves as the Group Leader for the Macromolecular Nanomaterials Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory‘s Center for Nanophase Materials Science.
